The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo was origionally writen in Swedish in 2005. Stieg Larsson died in 2004 after turning in the manuscrips for the three books in this series. It was traslated into English in 2008. This book is on the National Bestsellers list. It has 590 pages.
Now down to business... While this book is full of suspence, an appealing list of charactors, and an intruging plot, there are some things you must know about this book before you run out to buy it. This book is full of inapropriate language and conduct. Definately not for the faint at heart. And being that it takes place in Sweden the bonds of matrimony are loosly portayed. As a mother and a Christian I found the book rather harsh and offencive. In the end justice was never served which left me reeling!
There are two other books in the series, The Girl Who Played With Fire and The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets Nest. Neither of which I will be bothering to read. One was quite enough, thank you.
haha we read this at book club and the consensus was pretty on target with your opinion! i however, was able to set aside the language, adultery, sadism, and sexual violence and enjoy the book. (sarcasm??)
ReplyDeletei was intrigued enough to read on through the whole series and each book got better and better. but,as you said not for the faint heart or sensitive.
