Sliding Home -Kate Angell (PG-13)

Published in 2009
277 pages
Richmond Rogues -book 4

I'm getting quite fond of baseball! Reading these books reminded me of how much I enjoyed going to the Padre games with my family growing up.Great book. So detailed too, like I'm actually in the dugout or locker room. I enjoyed it as much as Strike Zone. The series continues with Ho, Humbug, Ho...

Strike Zone -By Kate Angell (PG-13)

Published in 2008

Richmond Rogues book 3

Kate Angell is one of my new favorite authors. For anyone looking for a quick fun romance, this is it. Baseball is the focus of this book and several more from the series. Strike Zone is the third book in the series involving the Richmond Rogues professional baseball team. This was an enjoyable read and I look forward to reading the rest from the series.

Gotcha! -by Christie Craig

Published in 2009, this book is a keeper! It has 335 pages. This book kept me guessing until the very end and laughing out loud throughout. It is jammed pack full of a murderous plot, a damsel in distress, ex-cons, and pizza pies!
I enjoyed this book A LOT. It was very enjoyable to read.
There is some excessive language and for that I am giving it an R rating. If you want a book that will cause uncontrollable smiles and laughter mixed with a hint of mystery and suspense, then this is the one for you.

Trouble in Mudbug- by Jana DeLeon (PG-13)

Trouble In Mudbug was published in February of 2009. It is written by Jana DeLeon who apparently grew up in the bayous of Louisiana. This fact is relevant in her book which takes place right on the bayou. I have never even seen a bayou so I can't even imagine although the author did try to paint a picture. This book has 300 pages. This book is a quirky romance mystery that did, I will admit, make me laugh. How could you not when a simple scientist starts seeing the ghost of her sort-of ex-mother in-law...in spandex? Combine that with a not-so physic best friend, a mysterious hot new co-worker, a philandering doctor, a MIA sort-of ex-husband, and a long list of potential murderers and you've got a book that will surely entertain.

There is some language and a scene not fit for kids but overall I'd say a fun easy read. Apparently there is a sequel called Mischief In Mudbug which I may just have to find!

The Wednesday Letters by Jason F. Wright (PG)

The Wednesday Letters is a Christian based book written in 2007 by Jason Wright. It has only 280 pages but not only is it a fast read it is also a page turner. I could not put this book down! It is packed tight with drama from the first chapter to the last. And yes I shed a tear or two.

The Wednesday Letters follow a family after the death of the mother and father. While looking through their parents things, the three children discover letters. Hundreds of them. Always written on a Wednesday. Through them they discover secrets in their family.

This book is a clean and powerful read that makes you reflect on your own life and what is truly important in our lives.

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo By Stieg Larsson (R)

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo was origionally writen in Swedish in 2005. Stieg Larsson died in 2004 after turning in the manuscrips for the three books in this series. It was traslated into English in 2008. This book is on the National Bestsellers list. It has 590 pages.

Now down to business... While this book is full of suspence, an appealing list of charactors, and an intruging plot, there are some things you must know about this book before you run out to buy it. This book is full of inapropriate language and conduct. Definately not for the faint at heart. And being that it takes place in Sweden the bonds of matrimony are loosly portayed. As a mother and a Christian I found the book rather harsh and offencive. In the end justice was never served which left me reeling!

There are two other books in the series, The Girl Who Played With Fire and The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets Nest. Neither of which I will be bothering to read. One was quite enough, thank you.
